Mintaka was established in 2017 as an Irish Based IT and Software Development firm Specialising in the Space Industry Sector. Company Director, Richard Stubbings, set up the firm having spent a considerable part of the previous 17 years working at the German Space Operations Center (GSOC) Deutschen Zentrums für Luft- und Raumfahrt Oberpfaffenhofen. The majority of this work involved the daily ground operations of the Columbus Module, the European Segment of the International Space Station, as both a Security Specialist and later as a ground segment team lead.
